How medical massage is different
Medical and orthopedic massage starts where relaxation massage stops: with an assessment. Before any hands-on work, I evaluate how the painful area moves, what restricts it, and which structures upstream or downstream are feeding the problem. Treatment is specific to those findings — and we re-test afterward, so you can feel and see the change in the same visit.
Because I'm also a NASM Corrective Exercise Specialist, treatment doesn't end on the table. You get targeted homework that keeps the released tissue working correctly, which is the difference between relief that lasts a weekend and a problem that actually closes out.
Before you schedule surgery, get a second opinion — from tissue
Some injuries genuinely need a surgeon. Many don't — they need the soft tissue around the joint to stop pulling it apart. I've worked with clients who were already scheduled for operations and, after a course of focused bodywork, never needed them. If you're weighing surgery, a few sessions is a low-risk way to find out what's actually driving the pain. I'll tell you honestly if what I'm seeing is beyond what bodywork can fix.
A real fix
How long have you been putting up with it?
Call or text with what's hurting and how long it's been going on. First honest assessment is a phone call away.
